Our Kids Soup Sunday Feb 28th 2010

This week on Tuned In my guests are from the non profit organization Our Kids.

Since 1987 Our Kids has offered help, hope, and healing for children and their families struggling with sexual abuse.

The Our Kids mission is to provide expert medical and crisis counseling services for children, when there are allegations or concerns of child sexual abuse, to increase community awareness, participate in research, and offer education and training about child maltreatment.

We talked with a heavy heart about Our Kids and their important part in our community. We also discussed their big fundraiser for 2010, the Allstate Our Kids Soup Sunday presented by Ford Motor Company. This year Soup Sunday is returning to LP Field club level west on Sunday February 28th. From 11am-2pm 50 local restaurants will compete for the title of favorite soup. There is always lots of great food, family entertainment, and all for a good cause. Last year’s event raised over $50,000 for Our Kids. Tickets and info at http://OurKidsCenter.com or by calling 615-341-4917.

Here is the article I referenced that Regine Chassagne of the band Arcade Fire wrote. It is a really powerful essay, especially where she talks about her families history in the country of Haiti.
